Culture Bites Podcast
The idea for this podcast was to have a platform where my friend and I could have a platform where we can talk about our experiences as immigrants. Our identities and cultural background are important to us, and found that a podcast platform would be a great place to share our experiences. Some topics that we found would be relatable to anybody who comes from an immigrant background is our journey to America, language, music, food, and travel.
The Process
The process for this was simple. I met with my friend every week to discuss the topic that we planned for that week and write out some bullet points on what exactly we wanted to cover. If there was anything we wanted to play, such as music, we got those links ready ahead of time. We were able to get a hold of a Blue Yeti microphone, plug it into a Mac Book, and recorded on the floor of my apartment bedroom. We sat across from each other so that we can be on opposite sides of the microphone. We had the laptop ready for us in case we wanted to search something up during our episode.
Making Waves Podcast
The idea of Making Waves is to illuminate the experiences of Asian & Pacific Islanders at Oregon State University. My co-hosts and I facilitated dialogue surrounding culture and diversity and dove into some of the complexities of the Asian & Pacific Islander experience. Whether this be pop culture, social identity, multiculturalism, or anything among many of the topics we hope to cover, we hope that you can resonate with our stories, as well as expose yourself to some new ideas and perspectives.
The Process
The process for this was simple. My co-hosts and I met at in a recording studio at Orange Media, the media and networks center on our university campus. We were given the microphones and camera needed by the staff there. We were able to set up the equipment, chairs and table the way we wanted, and had as much time to our disposal as we desired. After recording, everything was saved to a folder, emailed to us, and we edited as much as we wanted, adding in the intro and music, and editing out any mistakes we had. The edits were simple and few. After this, we were able to upload the episode onto YouTube and Spotify.
